Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

Start with a complimentary consultation. We will talk briefly about what you are looking for and help determine which member of our Care Team may be the best fit.

Do you offer in-person and virtual counseling?

Yes. LifeWise offers secure telehealth sessions throughout Texas and in-person counseling in select locations.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Insurance participation varies by provider and plan.

What if I am not sure which counselor to choose?

That is exactly what the consultation is for. We can help you determine which provider may be the best fit based on your needs, preferences, availability, and payment options.

What types of counseling do you provide?

We provide individual, couples, and family counseling for adults with concerns including trauma, anxiety, relationships, neurodivergence, life transitions, and other emotional or behavioral health concerns.

Do you work with first responders and veterans?

Yes. We provide trauma-informed counseling for first responders, veterans, military members, dispatchers, and their families.

We also offer nonclinical resilience and mental readiness training through Steel Armor Mindset.

Do I have to talk about my trauma in detail?

No. Counseling does not require you to relive or describe traumatic experiences before you are ready. Treatment can focus on stabilization, regulation, coping skills, patterns, and current concerns.

What happens during the first session?

Your first session is an opportunity to talk about what brings you to counseling, what you would like to change, and what you need from your counselor. You do not need to arrive with everything figured out.

How long are counseling sessions?

Most counseling sessions are approximately 50 to 60 minutes.

What if LifeWise is not the right fit?

If we believe another provider or level of care would better meet your needs, we will be honest about that and may recommend other options when appropriate.

How do I cancel or reschedule?

Please provide at least 24 hours notice whenever possible. Cancellation and no-show policies vary depending on the provider and payment arrangement.

Is LifeWise a crisis service?

No. LifeWise does not provide emergency or crisis response services.
